Bloodborne Lore: The Red Moon

The Red Moon in Bloodborne is a terrifying nightmare that is revealed after the player defeats Rom, the Vacuous Spider. Rom had been hiding the true nature of the world, protecting its residents from the horrifying secrets beneath the surface. Once Rom is slain, the veil is lifted, and the true horrors of the world are exposed.

In this new nightmare, the world becomes even darker. The servants of the Amygdala are empowered, the beasts become more aggressive, and the children of Amygdala are finally visible. With the Red Moon, the character begins to see the world as if they had gained 40 Insight, witnessing the Eldritch abominations that had been hidden from view.

By killing Rom, the player unwittingly ushers in the Red Moon, which many believe marks the coming of Oedon. While it’s unclear if Oedon and the Moon Presence are the same entity, some theories suggest they might be connected.
