Where to Find the Bullguard
You will face the Bullguard as a part of the main progression in Chapter 1. He is positioned in the Forest of Wolves, not far from the Front Hills Shrine. Follow the main path across a bridge, staying to the right, and you’ll encounter him blocking a gate that leads to the next region, Black Wind Mountain.
Bullguard Miniboss Fight Guide
1. Preparation:
Before engaging, ensure that you have rested and refilled your healing gourd. This miniboss hits hard, and being well-prepared is crucial for survival.
2. Attack Patterns:
Halberd Swings: The Bullguard wields a halberd, delivering powerful overhand slams and quick horizontal slashes. His attacks often come in a combo, ending with a slow recovery period, which is the perfect moment to strike back.
Overhead and Jump Attacks: He can perform multiple overhead swings followed by a massive jump attack. Be prepared to dodge his multi-hit combos and attack only when he’s recovering or after a successful dodge.
3. Immobilization Spell:
Triggering the Spell: Once the Bullguard’s health is reduced by half, he will parry your attack and attempt a killing blow. The Keeper will intervene at this point, using the Immobilize Spell to restrain the Bullguard and impart this spell to you.
Using Immobilize: The Immobilize Spell binds the enemy for a short duration, allowing you to attack without immediate retaliation. Use it strategically to dodge his attacks, heal, or land heavy blows.
4. Managing Magic and Cooldowns:
Magic Meter: The Immobilize Spell consumes magic, which does not regenerate automatically and can only be replenished by resting at a Shrine. Use the spell wisely to avoid running out of magic in critical moments.
5. Final Phase:
After the Keeper’s Departure: Once the Bullguard breaks free from the immobilization and the Keeper vanishes, it’s up to you to finish the fight. Use the Immobilize Spell effectively to manage the Bullguard’s attacks and complete the battle.
Post-Fight Rewards and Tips
Experience and Skill Trees: Upon defeating the Bullguard, you will receive significant experience points. Invest these in skill trees, including new abilities related to the Immobilize Spell.
Shrine Access: The path forward opens, but it’s still a bit of a trek to the next Shrine. If your health is low, you can return to the Shrine to rest, as the Bullguard will not respawn.
